Yessssss… More roots rock please.
It’s been a good week for good music, with several highly anticipated albums by some of our favorite artists looming on the horizon. The Avett Brothers are no exception, and lucky for us, they’re streaming their new album; The Magpie and the Dandelion in full over on NPR.org.
Though not due out until next Tuesday, October 15th, the North Carolina band’s 8th LP is outstanding upon first listen. With their classic vocal harmonies and meticulous instrumentation, the Brothers harken back to their major label debut I and Love and You. With poignant, thoughtful lyrics, and the kind of spacial juxtaposition of sounds that has to be owed in large part to working once again with producer/OG Rick Rubin, The Magpie and the Dandelion is at once rootsy, occasionally brooding, and always graceful. Be sure to give it a listen or seven.
